Akibatnya bocah bernama Suburiah tak dapat bersekolah, tak dapat bebas bermain, dan tidak dapat menikmati masa kecil seperti bocah seusianya. Sudah tiga bulan ini, Suburiah dirantai. Jika sedang berkumpul, sesekali rantai bergembok dibuka. Namun ruang gerak Suburiah tetap terbatas.

Universitas hanya mengizinkan mahasiswa Yahudi untuk memiliki ruangan khusus untuk beribadah. Sementara, bagi mahasiswa Muslim tidak diperkenankan untuk memiliki ruangan serupa untuk shalat.

Seorang profesor sekolah hukum telah melaporkan perlakuan diskriminatif Universitas Katolik Amerika kepada Lembaga Hak Asasi Manusia (HAM) Distrik Columbia. Ia mengatakan Universitas Katolik Amerika telah mendiskriminasikan mahasiswanya yang beragama Islam.
